Russian Council on Human Rights to expand

Russian President Vladimir Putin has changed the principle of formation of the Council on Human Rights and proposed expanding it from 40 to 65 members.

The list of members includes Yelizaveta Glinka, director of the Spravedlivaya Pomoshch Public Organization; Yelena Masyuk, an observer of Novaya Gazeta; lawyer and former judge Sergey Pashin; TV host Leonid Parfenov; Pavel Chikov, Chairman of the Interregional Public Association of Human Rights Organizations Agora; Lilia Shibanova, Executive Director of the Golos Association; Valery Borshchyov, CEO of the Moscow Regional Public Charity Foundation “Social Partnership”; Leonid Nikitinsky, Secretary of the Union of Journalists and a well-known journalist.
