Armenia’s Republican Party gets additional five votes

Recount of votes for elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders at polling station N1, initiated by the Armenian National Congress, has resulted in five additional votes for the Republican Party, reports.

Prosperous Armenia, the Armenian National Congress and Heritage will hold a joint anti-government protest on Freedom Square in Yerevan on October 10, according to secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party faction Naira Zograbyan, reports.Dashnaktsutyun, however, will not join the protests or visits to regions of the country. The three parties will inform the public about constitutional reforms and the 12 demands made to the government.

The Prosperous Armenia Party has hosted a meeting to discuss preparations for a joint protest in Yerevan and visits to regions of Armenia. Prosperous Armenia is represented by the secretary of its faction Nira Zograbyan, MPs Stepan Markaryan and Vardan Oskanyan; Dashnaktsutyun by head of the faction Armen Rustamyan, secretary Agvan Vardanyan and MP Artzvik Minasyan; Armenian National Congress by head of the faction Levon Zurabyan and secretary Aram Manukyan; Heritage by head of the faction Ruben Akopyan and secretary Tevn Pogosyan, reports.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ognyan proposed lifting the draft deferment of students. He explained that everyone should have equal conditions and cancelling the deferment would lower corruption risks, reports.The Armenian government has tried to cancel the draft deferment several times but the public has always spoken out against it. Roben Akopyan, the leader of the Heritage Party, and Tevan Pogosyan, the secretary of the party’s parliamentary faction, have recently composed a bill to end the deferment.
