Putin stresses social development in North Caucasus

Russian President Vladimir Putin met today with the Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, Deputy Prime MInister Alexander Khloponin. The president stressed the importance of social development in the region.

The presidential envoy informed the head of state that the unemployment rate in the North Caucasus has decreased by 50 percent, while in 2010 there were 486 thousand unemployed people.

Khloponin also told the president about the investment projects launched in the region. 

President Putin underlined that, despite all the positive changes, a lot of problems remain in the North Caucasus. The president urged the local authorities to increase their efforts to improve the social situation in the region.
