6 die in car crash in Turkey

A bus crashed killing six people and injuring twelve in the Turkish province of Tokat, Trend reports.

The surviving victims were taken to the nearest hospital.

Ferhat Yildiz has been sentenced to 11 years and 8 months of jail for plotting the assassination of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (the then prime minister) in May 2014, RIA Novosti reports. Yildiz was planning to shoot Erdogan with an improvised pistol in the Sultangazi District of Istanbul during an event of the ruling Justice and Development Party. His gun did not shoot when he approached the prime minister and pulled the trigger. Prosecutors had demanded 20 years of imprisonment for Ferhat Yildiz.
