Charles Aznavour awarded for contributing to Russian-French ties
Charles Aznavour, a living legend of French chanson, was awarded the honorary symbol ‘For contributing to strengthening cultural relations between Russia and France’, Armenian Public Television reports. The ceremony took place at ‘Russian Night’ in Cannes. The festival in Cannes is under the patronage of the wife of the Russian president, Svetlana Medvedeva, and is dedicated to Russia-France Year.
According to News Armenia, citing ‘Izvestia’ newspaper, the maestro told journalists that he grew up in an atmosphere of Russian music, recordings of Vertinsky and Russian ballads. He said that he loves Russian literature.
The world famous chanson singer is also the Armenian ambassador to Switzerland.
