200 kg of drugs incinerated in Turkmenistan
There was a traditional annual event near the Bagabat village, Akhal region of Turkmenistan, during which more than 200 kg of drugs were burned in special furnaces.
The event was organized by State Coordination Commission on Drug Abuse under the Cabinet of Ministers and the state security service for a healthy society.
The destroyed drugs were seized during several special operations carried out by the law enforcement agencies in the current year, the press service of the government reported.
The event was attended by members of the Ashgabat office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), accredited diplomats of the country, heads of law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan, representatives of the armed forces and civil society organizations, many of whom personally sent the smuggled goods into the special furnaces.
Such actions have been held twice a year for more than 10 years in the country - in June and December, according to TASS.
