Second day of rhythmic gymnastics competitions at 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku
Rhythmic gymnastics qualifying competitions of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games have ended in Baku yesterday. The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games are held in Baku from May 8 to 22. Athletes will compete at 16 sports facilities in 20 types of sports - 17 Olympic and three non-Olympic ones. Competitions in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics were included in the program of Islamic Solidarity Games for the first time at the initiative of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Mehriban Aliyeva. Over two days, athletes showed their skills in exercises with ball, hoop, ribbon and club. Eight best gymnasts (only two from one country) advanced to the finals.
In addition, winners in team competitions were determined. Gold went to Azerbaijani national team, consisting of Marina Durunda, Zhala Piriyeva and Zohra Agamirova. Uzbekistan won silver medal, while Turkey - bronze. Mehriban Aliyeva awarded the winners.
