International Junior championship in rhythmic gymnastics took place in Moscow within the framework of the Alina Kabayeva Cup. Russian athlete Dina Averina won the individual competition, while in the group competition Russian team also took the first place.
The delegation of the Circassian diaspora together with the Russian Adygs attended the opening ceremony of the XXII Olympic games in Sochi. The guests, representing the Circassian diaspora in Jordan, Syria, UAE, Israel, Palestine, Turkey, Germany and other countries visited the Olympic objects and the House of Adygs in the Olympic Park.
An international tournament in gymnastics, the Mikhail Voronin Cup, ended in Moscow on December 4. By the end of the two-day competition the women's team of Azerbaijan made the country of fires the leader in medals, winning one gold, four silver and three bronze medals. Anna Pavlova bypassed all her rivals in the vault exercises in the second part of the competition, was second in the bar exercises and took the third place on the podium in floor gymnastics. Marina Nekrasova won silver in balance beam exercises.
At the Olympic Stadium the competition in gymnastics (overall) among women for Mikhail Voronin Cup finished. The Azerbaijani team presented by Anna Pavlova and Marina Nekrasova took home three medals. By amount of exercise in individual all-around Pavlova came second, and Nekrasova - third. The first place in the individual all-around was taken by Elena Vasilieva from Ukraine. In the team competition the Azerbaijani team took silver, and the first place was taken by the Russian team. The "Dynamo" team came third.
In the center of Kiev, the police dispersed the protesters from the opposition in Maidan Nezalezhnosti calling for a speedy integration of Ukraine into the EU. The opposition activists resisted the police "in their words and deeds".
In Sochi, the School for young journalists organized by Center for Political Science "North-South" under an informational support of VK for media representatives of the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia finished. As part of the five-day session in Sochi, the participants could communicate with famous athletes, listen to lectures from masters of sports journalism, as well as inspect the Olympic facilities. In addition, during the school issues devoted to implementation of the program of tolerance and combating xenophobia were discussed.
The State Oriental Museum in Moscow is hosting an exhibition of two Azerbaijani artists, Arif Huseynov and his son Orhan Huseynov, until November 10. The exhibition features their paintings and drawings, which show the life, customs, habits and traditions of the Azerbaijanis through Azerbaijani folklore and fairy tales in a humorous light.The State Oriental Museum in Moscow is also showing about 60 works by one of the greatest masters of Azerbaijani art of the twentieth century, Rasim Babayev.
In London, an evening in memory of the co-founder of the Anglo-Azerbaijani Society Lord Fraser took place. It was organized with support from the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the UK. Professor Nargiz Pashaeva, Azerbaijani co-chairman of the Society, talked about Lord Fraser as a true friend of Azerbaijan, noting his contribution to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
Sergei Lebedev, the CIS Executive Secretary, the head of the CIS observation mission at the presidential elections in Azerbaijan during his visit to the polling stations in Baku, told reporters that he finds the electoral process well organized.
Ankara hosts the international conference "The Caucasian War of the Nineteenth century : Realpolitik and the "Memory of War." The focus of its participants is on the key problems in the history of the Caucasian War of the XIX century and its effect on the region in the broad context of interests of the great powers in the North Caucasus, in particular, of the Russian and Ottoman empires.
