 14-year old Nilufer Niftaliyeva from Baku, winner of a bronze medal at the European championship for free calisthenics, has thanked everyone for support at the competition.She noted that the most devoted fans came from the Azerbaijani community from Nizhny Novgorod. Some came from Moscow.14-year old Gulsum Shafizade, bronze winner of the European championship for exercises with ribbon, said she had been the 7th to perform and admitted being nervous. She plans more achievements to honour Azerbaijan, including attendance of the Olympic Games.

Nizhny Novgorod hosts European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

The Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod hosts the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, world media report.The official opening ceremony was held yesterday and attended by the region's governor, Valery Shantsev, and the head of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Irina Viner. Yesterday the Russian sportswomen registered a score of 54.850, which was the highest one that day.

A meeting of the Azerbaijani and Georgian Football Associations took place today inBatumi. The participants at the meeting discussed issues related tothe joint bid to host Euro 2020, 1news.az reports.Both countries agreed to form working groups by 10 June to meet inBaku. By June 30 the groups will prepare a plan, which will includenine cities (5 in one country and 4 in the other) that will hostthe European Championship if the bid is successful.
