Sochi replaces Aeroexpress with Latochka train

 Sochi has been using Lastochka trains to transport passengers from the train station and Adler station to the airport since May 1.Lastochka will replace the Aeroexpress trains. The remaining Aeroexpress trains will continue working according to the deal with the Russian Railways.

 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met chairman of the board of directors of the South Caucasus Railway Vladimir Yakunin yesterday and pointed out strengthening of cooperation with Russia.Sargsyan discussed cooperation with the Russian Railways Company, manager of the Armenian railways.Yakunin presented a report on modernization of Armenian railways and reminded about a facility opened in Gyumri to repair carriages and store trains.

Karachay-Cherkessia plans to restore rail services

The head of Karachay-Cherkessia, Rashid Temrezov, has asked the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation to consider the establishment of a railway communication between the the city of Cherkessk and Moscow."Not only would it create general comfort for the population and business, but it would also contribute to the development of resorts in the republic," ITAR-TASS quotes Temrezov.Since Soviet times the country had an extensive rail infrastructure.

 Russian Deputy Chief of FSB Border Guards Service Vladimir Mochalov said that railway access to Tajik trains will only open after all flaws registered by inspectors are fixed.The Russian Ministry for Transportation and Russian Railways were recommended to present a document to the CIS Council for Railway Transportation to halt railway traffic of Tajikistan, Molchanov said at a session of the State Border Commission in Moscow today.

Russian Railways restricts oil shipments to Black Sea ports

Russian Railways (RR) imposed restrictions to oil freighting to Black Sea ports in Tuapse and Novorossiysk due to preparations for the Olympic Games in Sochi, UCL Ports spokesman Vladimir Lisin said, Vedomosti reports.Passenger traffic to Sochi and back has halved since the end of the resort season.There were 35-37 pairs of trains during the summer and only 14 now.Officials of the RR and Olimpstroy gave no explanations to why they limited railway traffic.

Four carriages derailed in Armenia

Four empty cargo carriages have been derailed on the Vardenis-Shorzha Railway in Armenia this morning.Armenian railways are managed by the Southern Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways.
