World press on Chechen community in Germany (August 27, 2013)
L'Espresso published an article by Stefano Vastano devoted to the Chechen community in Germany. According to the author, the majority of the Russian emigrants living in Germany are Chechens.
Vastano also notes that the "Russian bin Laden", Doku Umarov, has already called for terrorist attacks during the Sochi Olympic Games. The Chechen extremists in Germany may follow Umarov's appeal. According to the German Federal Investigation Service, some 200 Chechen emigrants in Germany are collecting money for the Chechen rebels, the author writes.
The problem is really an acute one, the author writes. Some 3200 Russian citizens applied for asylum in Germany in 2012. 70 percent of them are Chechens, Stefano underlines.
Bavaria's Interior Minister Joahim Hermann has already called for enhanced control of Chechen emigration to Germany as it is a necessary step in the struggle against terrorism, the author informs.
