Protection of religions on state level is advantage of modern Russia
The cases of glorification of people who committed crimes against world and humanity are becoming more frequent in the post-Soviet space. Russian expert community is not indifferent to such unacceptable cases. The chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Irina Yarovaya, believes that the main way to counter such trends is the formation and preservation of moral ideals in the society, and traditional religions still play are huge role in this.
"Who and when planned to eventually start trying to rehabilitate those who have committed crimes against world and humanity? Unfortunately, such concept as "crime against world and humanity" exists not only in textbooks, not just in normative acts, it exists in life. Unfortunately we see today that the policy of individual countries demonstrates not just double standards, but the prevalence of arrogant, disrespectful attitude others, rejection of sovereignty and right to development and, of course, cynical, avid greed, aimed at seizing resources, capabilities and economic privileges," she stated in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza.
In her opinion, Russia won't accept the logic and spirit of violence and aggression: "The spirit of protection, creation, loyalty and duty is clear to us. Moreover, those are values that unite all of our traditional religions. Perhaps that is why our country has a law that protects traditional religions."
The chairman of presidium of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus, Aly Totorkulov, noted strengthening of the legislative protection of traditional religions in an interview with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza: "I can say with full certainty that Moscow and Russian authorities are on the right track. Five years ago we could still criticize the authorities for the treatment of believers. But today corresponding laws are adopted, support of the authorities in carrying out various events is felt. So I think that if it continues like that, then there will be no problems."
Irina Yarovaya thinks that the connection between spiritual and material is inseparable, "because the man can't be creative if he is immoral and unspiritual." "The fact that traditional religions today are forming the most important basic moral choice of the entire country is a great achievement, a great advantage of modern Russia, which in a sense gives us the opportunity to be legislators of how the world should be in interaction with each other on the geopolitical level, on the global security level," she concluded.
