“War Party” compares Pashinyan's methods to Pinochet
On the eve of the first meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the “War Party” of Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan strengthened anti-Pashinyan propaganda in the hope of turning any progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement against Pashinyan and hurt his ratings.
One of the main comrades of the Karabakh clan leaders, the representative of the Republican Party of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, posted a message on his Facebook page, comparing Prime Minister's methods to Francisco Franco and Augusto Pinochet, as if forgetting that Pinochet methods were used by Armenian authorities for the last 20 years.
“The fact that Pashinyan violated all written and unwritten laws of democracy is proved by his methods. He uses blackmail, threats and repression for several months already,” politik.am reports citing Sharmazanov.
In conclusion to his post Eduard Sharmazanov wrote that Nikol Pashinyan's actions already led to several extremely negative results for Armenia.
The end goal of such propaganda is clear: the “War Party” either wants to prevent Pashinyan from reaching compromises with Baku, threatening to hurt his popularity through such statements, or, if compromise is reached, will try to return to power.
