90th Academy Awards in Los Angeles
The 90th Academy Awards ceremony, better known by the nickname of its award - the Oscar - was held inside the famed Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water has won the Oscar for best picture at the 90th Academy Awards, defeating strong competition from Get Out, Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in what had been considered the closest Oscar race in many years.
The Shape of Water," which came in with 13 nods, took a leading four awards, including best production design, best score and best director for del Toro, CNBC reported.
UK’s Gary Oldman has won the Oscar for the Best Actor for the main role in "Darkest Hour." Frances McDormand won the Oscar award for the Best Actress in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, while Sam Rockwell has won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor for the same film. Ellison Janney won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for "I, Tonya".
James Ivory, screenwriter and co-producer of the drama Call Me by Your Name, created history as he became the oldest Oscar winner. Ivory, 89, won the Oscar for adapting Andre Aciman’s 2007 novel of the same name for the Luca Guadagnino-directed film. Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele has won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
"Remember Me," from Disney-Pixar's "Coco," won best original song at the Oscars for songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
Veteran British director of photography Roger Deakins has ended his 13-film losing streak at the Oscars by winning the best cinematography Academy award for Blade Runner 2049. The film also won the Oscar in visual effects.
