Afghanistan explosion: 80 killed in blast (VIDEO)
A huge explosion hit near foreign embassies in Kabul on Wednesday morning, killing at least 80 people and injuring 300 others, the Afghan health ministry said.
The blast was caused by a suicide attack near the German Embassy, according to a spokesman for the interior ministry, Najib Danish, said.
The US Embassy, which is close by, said "a large vehicle borne improvised explosive device" detonated near the southern edge of the diplomatic area.
"The US Embassy does not appear to have been the target of the blast," CNN cited a spokesperson as saying.
The blast hit during the morning rush hour in Kabul when everyone was going to work.
