Amano and US Ambassador to UN discuss Iran nuclear deal
IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano and the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Nikki Haley, met at U.N. headquarters in New York, the IAEA said in a press release.
They discussed the IAEA’s verification and monitoring of Iran’s implementation of its nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Amano said that the JCPOA represents a significant gain for nuclear verification and that the nuclear-related commitments undertaken by Iran under the agreement are being implemented. He briefed Ambassador Haley on the IAEA’s strong and effective safeguards activities in Iran.
IAEA Director General also stressed during his 29 October visit to Tehran the importance of full implementation by Iran of its nuclear-related JCPOA commitments.
