Austria to build fence along its border
Austria will build a fence along its border, like Slovenia and Hungary, to slow down the migrant flow, Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner told ORF radio.
"Of course it is not just a fence, it is also about fortified structures at the border crossing areas," she noted. She said the aim wasn't to seal the border with Slovenia, but rather to prevent people from walking on the highway. Last week at Spielfeld, on the Slovenian border, thousands of migrants broke through the police cordon and started walking on the highway.
"There are scuffles including women and children. We need all possible technical measures to ensure a controlled, orderly entry onto our territory," Mikl-Leitner stressed.
