Azerbaijani President arrives in Beijing for working visit
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in the People's Republic of China for a working visit to attend the 2nd "One Belt One Road" international forum at the invitation of the Chairman of the country.
A guard of honor was arranged for Ilham Aliyev at Beijing International Airport, according to the Azerbaijani presidential website.
President Aliyev was welcomed by Vice Foreign Minister of China Zhang Hanhui and other officials.
The One Belt One Road or Belt and Road Initiative is a development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in 124 countries and 29 international organizations in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and Africa. The leader of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, originally announced the strategy in 2013.
The April 25-27 event will be attended by representatives of up to 150 countries and international organizations, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and International Monetary Fund head Christine Lagarde.
