Azerbaijani army holds massive live-fire drills (VIDEO)
Missile and artillery units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have launched live-fire exercises with the purpose of improving combat skills of personnel, the country's Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The drills are being held in accordance with the Armed Forces preparation plan for 2017.
In the course of exercises conducted in conditions close to combat, artillery units are carrying out the tasks on reaching concentration areas, decision-making, occupying firing and starting positions, keeping stealth capability, as well as moving during the battle and other tasks.
During the exercise, modern automated control systems are used to ensure the accuracy and intensity of practical combat firings, and unmanned aerial vehicles are used to correct fire.
Azerbaijan has adopted Russia's multiple rocket launchers Smerch, Tochka-U tactical missile systems, Pion self-propelled guns, 2S19 MSTA-S self-propelled howitzers, Khrizantema-S tank destroyers and other equipment.
Khrizantema-S tank destroyers (firing range of 6 km, armor penetration 1200 mm, maximum speed of 70 km/h, 600 km range, aluminum, bulletproof armor).
Multiple rocket launchers Smerch (range of 120 km, area of defeat 67.2 hectares, maximum speed of 60 km/h, power reserve 900 km).
Tochka-U tactical missile systems (firing range of 120 km, maximum speed of 60 km/h, power reserve 650 km).
Pion self-propelled guns (firing range of 47.5 km, maximum speed of 50 km/h, power reserve 675 km, bulletproof bullet).
