Azerbaijani man introduces Islam to Indonesia - ambassador
Azerbaijani man introduced Islam to Indonesia, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Azerbaijan Dr. Husnan Bey Fananie said at a press conference.
He recalled that Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world and drew attention to the fact that it is located far from the Middle East, from Central Asia - from all the traditional regions where Islam was historically developed.
"Ulama Malik Ibrahim of Samarkand who lived in the 14th century introduced Islam to Indonesia. Sources say that he came to Samarkand from the Caspian coast. In Samarkand he studied Islam and then went to Indonesia. Thus, Azerbaijani man introduced Islam to Indonesia," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited the Ambassador as saying.
