Azerbaijani youth to be active participants in parliamentary elections

Azerbaijani youth will actively participate in the parliamentary elections this year, the deputy of the Azerbaijani Minister of youth and sports, Intiqam Babayev, said in an interview with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza about work with young voters.

"Of course, a youth campaign is not included in our mandate, but to tell young people about elections, about the constitutional obligations of every citizen, is among our duties," Babayev said.

"We have more than 5 million voters, about 26% of whom are people of 18-29 years. More than 60 thousand of them will vote in the parliamentary elections for the first time, 250-300 young people will celebrate their 18th birthday on polling day. We are currently conducting training and seminars for those who will vote for the first time," Intiqam Babayev said.

"Currently, more than 30 cities and regions have their own houses of youth and youth centers. These are the social structures that create the conditions for young people to have a platform for meetings and discussions," he noted.

"Training, seminars, round tables, healthy activities – everything is provided in these centers. One center in the Dashkesan region has a wider format. We have a youth hostel there, which makes it possible to organize international camps and internal national schools of leadership," Intiqam Babayev said.
