COVID-19 situation is Russia continues to stabilize

The coronavirus situation in Russia continues to stabilize, with the overall daily tally of newly confirmed cases gradually decreasing, chief of Russia’s sanitary watchdog Anna Popova said on Tuesday.

"As for the epidemic situation, it remains stable in January. And stabilization continues. We register decreasing numbers of daily confirmed new cases. Over the past day, a total of 19,290 new cases were confirmed. It is the lowest level since early November," she said.

According to the latest statistics, nearly 100 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 2.1 million deaths have been reported.

To date, 3,756,931 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 3,174,561 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 70,482 fatalities nationwide. Earlier, the Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.
