 Caspian flotilla conducts anti-terrorism exercises

Anti-terrorism exercises of the Russian Caspian Flotilla were held in Astrakhan, Makhachkala and Kaspiysk.

"The training activities of Russian Caspian Flotilla involved more than 300 military personnel, around 20 surface ships, boats and support vessels, as well as about 10 weapons units and military equipment," the Southern Military District press service said.

The exercise scenario included militants seizing a military unit and attempting to gain access to the city. A checkpoint unit took up a defensive position and alerted counter-terrorism unit destroyed the terrorist group.

In addition, military and civilian personnel practiced drills for scenario where explosive devices are detected at military units, RIA Novosti reports.
