Conference on Iranian-Russian ties opens in Tehran

A conference marking 515 years of ties between Iran and Russia, which is being held in Tehran, is an important factor of enhancement of relations between the two countries, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said, addressing a conference.

Zarif said that as neighboring countries, Iran and Russia need to have far more extensive relations.

Enhancement of relations between Iran and Russia would not only serves their own interests, but works as “a major factor in the security, stability and development of regions like Central Asia and the Middle East,” Tasnim cited Zarif as saying.

According to the foreign minister, the ties between the two countries also contribute to the development of the regional countries.

The conference will be held until February 5.
