Covid-19 death tall in Russia exceeds 55, 000
From April to September 2020, 55,671 people diagnosed with the Covid-19 died in Russia, Rosstat informed with a reference to the medical death certificates obtained from the Unified State Register of the Civil Registry Office.
The total number of people who died from the Covid-19 in September was 9,798. The main cause of death was the coronavirus for 4, 329 people: they were diagnosed while still alive or tested posthumously. At the same time, 870 deceased were not diagnosed with the Covid-19, however, there is a high probability that they died precisely from the coronavirus.
It is also reported that Covid-19 had a significant impact on the development of fatal complications for 1, 401 people. Among 3,198 people, the coronavirus was not the main cause of death and did not have a significant effect on the development of fatal complications, RBC reports.
Taking into account all four categories, a total of 55,671 people died from the coronavirus in April- September. Of these, 2, 825 people died in April, 12, 669 in May, 12, 335 in June, 10, 371 in July, 7, 673 in August, and 9, 798 in September.
According to Johns Hopkins University, today, the average mortality rate from Covid-19 in the world is about 2.5% (the method of recording cases and deaths in different countries varies greatly).
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of the new coronavirus a pandemic on March 11. According to the latest data, the number of people infected with coronavirus worldwide has exceeded 49 mln, of which more than 1.2 mln have died. In Russia, 1,753,836 cases of infection were detected.
