Elmar Mammadyarov on Karabakh: they are not able to spread hatred between nations

Azerbaijan strives to ensure that the residents of Armenia and Karabakh could see the development, the level of life and security in the republic, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said, addressing the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the correspondent of the Vestnik Kavkaza reports.

"We are trying to ensure that all sports events and other international events in Azerbaijan, with the appropriate security system, were attended by Armenian delegations and, as you say, citizens of other countries with Armenian surnames," he said, responding to a question from one of the participants of the meeting in the Diplomatic Academy.

"It is very important for us that people from Armenia or Karabakh will come and see how we live, whether it is worth spreading hatred between the nations," Elmar Mammadyarov explained.

Neither the Azerbaijani leadership nor the people hate Armenians. "Let me remind you that at the First European Games the swimmer from the Armenian team took the second place and was awarded by the President of Azerbaijan," the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister noted.

"They will not be able to spread hatred between the peoples. I would be cautiously optimistic here that we should look at the root of the situation, in order to, first of all, achive progress in the settlement, at least start serious negotiations with Armenia. The serious work is underway, yesterday Sergei Lavrov and me discussed the settlement in detail, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev discussed the situation, which is proposed to consolidate and harmonize the diplomatic text, in detail as well,  while the Armenian side refuses," the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister drew attention.
