Erdogan: reform in NATO is inevitable
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that a reform in NATO is inevitable.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara's Esenboga International Airport before his departure for the meeting, he said the member states should work to strengthen NATO in the face of common threats, instead of seeking alternatives.
"A reform in NATO in line with present-day threats is inevitable," Anadolu Agency cited the Turkish leader as saying.
The NATO summit will be held in the capital of the United Kingdom on December 3-4. Ankara reported that Erdogan was looking forward to holding bilateral meetings with US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on the summit’s sidelines.
