Fast and Furious 9 filming starts in Tbilisi

Some streets in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi will be closed, as the shooting of a 10-minute segment for a Hollywood film Fast and Furious 9 is starting. 

Shooting will start today and end on September 20. The following streets will be temporarily unavailable in Tbilisi and Rustavi: August 18-27: Vazha Pshavela Avenue,
August 26-September 3: Rustaveli Avenue, August 30-September 8: Rustavi Market adjacent territory, September 7: Freedom Square and Pushkini Street, September 8-16: Nutsubidze 4th Plateau, September 16:University Street, reported.

Fast and Furious 9 is produced by Universal Pictures and directed by Justin Lin. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson are among the main cast. The film is set to be released in May, 2020. 

The decision to select Georgia to be one of the shooting locations was made during a visit of Hollywood filmmakers in Tbilisi earlier in Spring.
