Former finance minister detained in Armenia
Former Armenian finance minister Gagik Khachatryan was arrested, the National Security Service of Armenia reported.
He was arrested after the searches carried out yesterday in houses and apartments of the former official and affiliated persons as part of the investigation launched yet in February 2019.
According to the National Security Service's press release, on the same day, after the searches, Gagik Khachatryan and Karen Khachatryan (a former high-ranking official at the State Revenue Committee) were arrested on suspicion of the abuse of powers that had grave consequences and the gross embezzlement, ARKA reported.
The investigation is under way. Gagik Khachatryan served as finance minister in 2014-2016.
