Georgia reports 23 new COVID-19 cases

Georgia has reported 23 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today and 13 recoveries.

Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia said that 14 new patients contracted the virus from contact from infected individuals, eight cases were ‘imported’ of which five are truck drivers and the source of infections has not been identified in the remaining one case.

Currently 230 people are undergoing treatment at Covid centres of which three are in critical and 21 are in severe condition," cited Ezurgbaia as saying.

In total 1,253 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Georgia, 19 people have died of the virus in the country, 6,059 people are in quarantine, and 41 citizens of Georgia have been transported home from abroad for treatment.

Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,510 cases of the coronavirus.
