Hollande: Assad cannot be the future of Syria
The period of political transition in Syria should begin this year already, but the current president Bashar al-Assad cannot be regarded as a participant in the future political process, French President Francois Hollande stated.
Hollande pointed out that the requirement of involvement of all groups of population in the Syrian political process is secured by the UN Security Council resolution. "Thus, we have the basis and framework for actions," - he stated, reminding that "discussions are scheduled for January 25th."
"The moderate opposition is ready to take part in them under the condition of respect for what it represents, and security guarantees for civilian population that suffers from bombings", - TASS quoted him as saying.
