IMF comments on Putin-Biden meeting
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said more cooperation between Russia and the United States could help with current significant global challenges, commenting on the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"It is positive to have more cooperation globally. We are not yet out of the woods with this crisis, and in front of us, there are very significant global challenges we have to wrestle with, climate change being on top of the list," she said.
"We are encouraged by this spirit of resolving longstanding issues, for example, a minimal corporate tax or taxing the digital industry in a fairer way, and certainly having more discussions around the challenges the world faces, finding common ground to address these challenges from the perspective of the world economy is beneficial," The Washington Post cited Georgieva as saying.
