 IOC welcomes Georgia’s goal to host Olympic Games

The International Olympic Committee will send a special group of experts and advisers to Georgia to learn about development in the country’s mountain resorts and future prospects in the industry.

The decision came after a meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Georgia's goal to become a host country of the Olympic Games was highlighted at the meeting.

Kvirikashvili talked about the potential Georgia’s mountain resorts have and recent developments in the industry.According to him, Switzerland’s experience in developing ski resorts was very important for Georgia.

"The recent activities of your country are very impressive for us. The International Olympic Committee is interested in developing sport and accordingly we support national Olympic Committees, including Georgia’s National Olympic Committee," cited Bach as saying.
