Ilham Aliyev: negotiations on new agreement with EU to bear fruit soon
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence in the good results of the talks between Baku and Brussels on the new agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
According to him, European countries are the main trade partners of Azerbaijan and its main investors.
"I am confident that these talks will lead to good results soon," RIA Novosti cited the Azerbaijani President as saying.
Spokeswoman for the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Maya Kosyanchich, earlier said that the next round of negotiations on a new agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan will be held in Baku in late April.
The European Council adopted a mandate for the European Commission and the high representative for foreign affairs and security policy to negotiate, on behalf of the EU and its member states, a comprehensive agreement with Azerbaijan in November 2016. The new agreement should replace the 1996 partnership and cooperation agreement.
