Iran to build power plants in Kazakhstan

Iran's Power and Water Equipment and Services Export Company Kazakh company 'SUNIR' and Kazakhstan's Eurasia Invest Group have signed a contract for the construction of power plants in Kazakhstan, Sunir CEO Bahman Salehi said on the sidelines of the meeting of the Kazakh-Iranian Business Council in Tehran.

"The agreement on the construction of a wind power plant with a capacity of 50 MW and two thermal power plants with a capacity of 250 MW has been signed today in Tehran," IRNA cited him as saying.

Salehi noted that these projects will be implemented in 18 months. One plant will be built on the Kazakh coast of the Caspian Sea, two others on the Silk Road route in Almaty.

"The parties expressed their desire to sign a memorandum of understanding in various sectors, including water and wastewater, construction of gas pipelines, development of roads and also in mining sector," TASS cited Salehi as saying.
