Iraqi troops liberate Khalidiya island from Daesh
The head of the Anbar Provincial Council, Sabah Al-Karhut, said that the Khalidiya island, 23 km east of Ramadi, has been fully liberated from Daesh control.
“Security forces have completely liberated the Khalidiya island from Daesh control," IraqiNews cited him as saying.
Khalidiya Island is a river peninsula, located in a loop and on the northern banks of river Euphrates.
Iraqi troops launched a large-scale offensive against Daesh militants last summer.
