Jacob Levy: gymnasts enjoy tournaments in Baku

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation has accumulated great experience in holding international gymnastic tournaments, the coach of the Israeli team Jacob Levy said, speaking with Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the European Championships in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline.

"Baku knows how to organize events at the level of the European Championship, because the AGF has accumulated great experience due to holding many competitions, including World Cups in different types of gymnastics, so the organization is always great here," he stressed.

According to him, this year Israel is represented by only two gymnasts at the European Championships. "Our country's delegation is small - one junior gymnast and one senior, but we are trying to show everything we are capable of.The result is not as important for us as the experience of participating in international tournaments, because it is only the second big competition in their life," Jacob Levy said.

The Israeli coach stressed the high level of relations between the gymnastics federations of the two countries. "Our athletes often come here, our gymnasts were here both for training and competing, and, of course, we have many good friends here. For us it is very comfortable and nice to live, train and perform in Azerbaijan. It's a pleasure for us to be in Baku," he concluded.

The 26th European Championships in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline has opened in Baku today. More than 400 gymnasts from 25 countries are expected to join the Championships. In the first two days of the competitions, qualifications for all types of events both among junior and senior gymnasts as well as finals among teams will be held, on the last day, medalists will be known in all four types of the gymnastics events.
