John Kerry arrives in Moscow
US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Moscow. This is his third visit to Russia in less than a year, previously the head of the US State Department was in Russia in May and December 2015.
Kerry will have talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Russian presidential press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, Putin will receive Kerry on March 24 to discuss the Syrian settlement and implementation of the Minsk agreements, but there is no fixed agenda.
The US State Department said the agenda would include efforts by the International Syria Support Group for the sake of the cessation of hostilities, humanitarian aid and its better availability, promotion of a political transition in Syria and the struggle against Daesh.
"The situation in Russian-US relations remains not easy," the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "The series of confrontational steps Washington has taken on the pretext of the Ukrainian crisis dealt a heavy blow to cooperation."
Also, the US Secretary of State is scheduled to meet with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, TASS reports.
