Kosachev: Russian-Turkish agreements create basis for progress on Syria
Economic agreements reached by the Russian and Turkish presidents on Monday will help build up trust on the Syrian and other complicated problems where the sides have different positions, the chairman of the International Affairs Committee of Russia’s Federation Council upper parliament house, Konstantin Kosachev, said.
"Agreements in the energy and trade and economic spheres are very important not only from the commercial point of view. They create a basis for trust and mutual understanding in future cooperation on the Syrian and other complicated dossiers where positions of our countries are different, but nevertheless can and should be brought closer," TASS cited him as saying.
In his words, the results of today’s talks between Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan are "only the start of the road."
Earlier in the day, an intergovernmental agreement on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline was signed after talks between the two presidents.
