Kremlin hopes for good relations with new U.S. administration
The Kremlin is making no preparations ahead of Joseph Biden’s inauguration as U.S. president, but hopes for good relations with Washington, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
"The Kremlin makes no preparations. Nothing will change for Russia (after Biden takes office). Russia will go on living the way it has lived for many hundreds of years, seeking good relations with the United States," Peskov said.
"If there is corresponding reciprocal political will depend on Mr. Biden and his team," TASS cited him as saying.
Peskov added that Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier congratulated Biden upon his election as the United States’ 46th president.
Biden’s inauguration is due on the steps of the Capitol Building on Wednesday noon (20:00 Moscow time).
