Kyrgyz President promises not to be reelected
Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said at the press conference that he will resign next year.
Atambayev said he is glad he has no successor. "Even I don't know who is going to be the next President, it proves that we don't have successors in Kyrgyzstan," he said.
"A transfer of power to successor is only practiced in dictatorship states with a shah-sultan system of ruling. I prefer those politicians who won't spoil a country. And we have few of them," AKIpress cited Atambayev as saying.
"There are real candidates who know the system," Atambayev noted.
"The Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan will be also putting forward its candidate," he assumed.
Atambayev's 6-year presidency term comes to an end on December 1, 2017.
