Lavrov: EU imposes anti-Russia sanctions due to U.S. pressure
The possible EU sanctions over the Kerch Strait incident are imposed under strong pressure from the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We know that these sanctions are being taken under the US’ powerful pressure, which again proves the European Union’s dependence. It is sad, but we are open for dialogue," TASS cited the Russian top diplomat as saying.
Lavrov's comments follow the Financial Times' earlier reports that the U.S. and the EU were close to reaching an agreement on imposing new economic anti-Russia sanctions over the Kerch strait incident in late November.
