Lavrov: IS not only enemy for all peoples, it's enemy of Islam
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a welcome speech at an international conference of Muslim religious activists 'Islamic religion against extremism' that fighting the threat of terrorism and extremism requires a complex approach.
According to Lavrov, the Islamic State based in the Middle East and North Africa "is not only a common enemy for all countries and peoples", responsible for grave crimes, it is also an enemy of Islam. "Its aim is to compromise Islam, ruining it from the inside," Russia’s Foreign Minister stressed.
"The threat of extremism is multifaceted, so a response to it should be complex," he noted.
