Leyla Aliyeva: Russia-Azerbaijan relations have always been friendly
Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva addressed the international scientific conference titled 'Nasimi Poetry - a Hymn to Man: Synthesis of Spiritual and Cultural Values of East and West' which was held today at the Institute of Philosophy of Russian Academy of Sciences. The conference is timed to the 650th anniversary of great Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi.
"Dear friends, I am very glad to welcome everyone to the Institute of Philosophy. I am glad that such meetings have become a good, regular tradition. Relations between our countries have always been good-neighborly, friendly, and now they continue to develop dynamically. I think such meetings and discussions contribute greatly to this," she said in the first place.
"2019 was declared the Year of Nasimi in Azerbaijan. Today's conference, which brought together scientists and cultural figures from Azerbaijan, Russia, the United States, Austria, Germany, Turkey, Iran and Kazakhstan, is dedicated to the 650th anniversary of great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi. Thanks to everyone who came to Moscow to attend this event, it’s very nice that Nasimi’s poetry continues to cause such interest. In fact, we have only started to really discover it for ourselves, to understand the depth of his poetry, because everything that was actual in his times, perhaps, is even more relevant today - and the truth and art are timeless," Leyla Aliyeva noted.
"Nasimi’s humanism and internationalism feels very close to our countries. People of different faiths, cultures and nationalities live in peace and harmony in Russia and Azerbaijan. Today it is very valuable and important, as well as deserves great admiration and respect, because to love and understand each other is the most important thing in the world," the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation stressed.
"Nasimi is interesting not only for his philosophy. He is a brilliant poet who wrote in three languages, and Nasimi’s poetry gives a magical light, makes us better. His image inspires today's writers to new bright works. I would really like as much people in the world as possible to hear about his work, and thanks to everyone who now contributes to this cause," she concluded.
