Lukashenko jokes he can land Biden's plane in Minsk
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has invited U.S. President Joe Biden to Minsk if, as the White House indicated earlier, he really wants to discuss the problems of Belarus.
"I would like to make a public invitation: if they wish to discuss Belarus, they may visit. I will give them both an honorable reception. We will discuss all issues. I will even listen to all of the nasty things that [White House spokesperson Jen] Psaki will write for him to read out to me. There will be a frank discussion," Lukashenko said.
But sitting in Switzerland and lecturing Putin on the problems of Belarus is just laughable," TASS cited him as saying.
The Belarus leader also appeared to joke about the flight diversion, asserting that Biden "could take a risk - we can easily land a plane, we have a runway".
