Maria Zakharova to Vestnik Kavkaza: Russia will adequately respond to US sanctions
Russia's response to new US sanctions, imposed by the State Department in connection with the so-called "Sripal case", will be adequate to pressure that Washington puts on Moscow, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, said, answering question of Vestnik Kavaza.
At the same time, Maria Zakharova didn't disclose details of the upcoming response.
"As you know, we give adequate response to all new sanctions, but we don't comment on working process during development of these measures," she said.
"As always, we will respond adequately. We always emphasize that sanctions war is not our choice, Russia makes such decisions not because it wants to, but solely in response to sanctions of other states," official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
On August 8, the US State Department announced that it will introduce new sanctions against Russia due to alleged use of chemical weapons in the so-called "Skripal case".
However, it refused to disclose details or provide intelligence data that shows Russia's involvement in this case.
