Matviyenko hopes results of Putin-Trump summit to be positive
Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said that the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump in Paris on November 11 will be held taking into account the outcome of the future political landscape following the mid-elections to the U.S. Congress.
The speaker noted that she anticipates that the results of these talks will be positive.
Matviyenko recalled that the two leaders’ meeting would take place after the November 6 midterm congressional elections in the U.S. "In my opinion, these negotiations will, of course, take into account this [new] balance of political forces and outline the prospects for our further cooperation," TASS cited her as saying.
"We anticipate that the results of these talks will be positive," Matviyenko concluded.
