Media: Gas pipeline from Iraqi Kurdistan to Turkey is to be launched by 2016
A pipeline, which runs from northern Iraq to Turkey is to be build by the end of February 2016. The government of Iraqi Kurdistan believes that this year they will be able to organize the pumping of 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year, Bloomberg reports.
"Kurdistan may become one of the countries for the supply of natural gas to Turkey and Europe. In this respect we have strategic plans," the head of the Energy Commission of the Parliament of the Kurdish autonomous region in Iraq, Sherko Cevdet said.
Turkey considers that the pipeline may become a part of the diversification policy. According to proven research, Kurdistan's gas reserves amount to about 5 trillion cubic meters, Tass reports.
