Moscow pays last respects to Ivan Tuchkov

A public ceremony of paying last respects to dean of the History Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University Ivan Tuchkov was held in Moscow today.

According to the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, the rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy admitted that he can't believe that Ivan Ivanovich Tuchkov died so soon. "He was a man whose charm and kindness always mesmerized people communicating with him. Ivan Ivanovich dedicated his life to the History Department of Moscow University and he did a lot of good. He was an outstanding art critic, a wonderful lecturer, a favorite of students. Humanitarian education at Moscow University always raised questions in connection with the rapid development of technology and natural sciences, but Ivan Ivanovich was the first person which advice the Academic Council and me sought," he said.

"Together with your relatives and friends we mourn for your untimely demise, but your name will remain in the history of Moscow University, in our hearts and in the hearts of all those who met you. Goodbye, dear Ivan Ivanovich," the rector of Moscow State University concluded.

Director General of the State Tretyakov Gallery Zelfira Tregulova also noted that Ivan Tuchkov's death was a horrible and unexpected loss. "Ivan Ivanovich Tuchkov was a brilliant researcher of art, a direct heir to the classical school of art studies, which has been developed at Moscow University. Most importantly, Ivan Ivanovich was a man of great heart," she shared her memories.

"I think that the memory of Ivan Ivanovich Tuchkov will remain in the hearts of all those who studied and worked with him, his students. Thank you for all that you did for us. We will miss you very much," Zelfira Tregulova expressed regret.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov shared his memories of studying and working with Ivan Ivanovich. "He was a true friend, devoted and loyal, a man with a good sense of humor, a principled man who loved life, science and Moscow University very much. The historical faculty was his life until the last days. He was a brilliant scientist, lecturer and art critic," he said.

"In recent years we have often seen each other as the deans of the neighboring faculties. He was a dedicated person, who devoted his life to the family, students. This is a tragedy for all of us, a huge loss for science, for his family and, of course, for those students who have not yet heard his lecture. We will always remember him. God rest Vanya Tuchkova's soul. Goodbye my dear friend," Vyacheslav Nikonov concluded.

Ivan Tuchkov will be buried at the Khovanskoye cemetery.
