Nazarbayev proposes to create 'Islam Against Terrorism' forum
Following talks with Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev made a proposal to create an 'Islam Against Terrorism' forum.
According to Nazarbayev, the situations in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq are of great importance. "Now there are some speculations over the issues of Shiites and Sunnis, this has nothing in common, because what is happening in Syria, this is a common threat to all of us, particularly the Central Asian region," he said.
In this regard, we are putting forward the idea of creating an 'Islam Against Terrorism' forum. If we are supported, this will be the right trend of work for the correct idea about what we are doing," RIA Novosti cited the president as saying.
Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan and Russia have a common vision on developments in the world and are closely coordinating approaches for resolving problems.
